Devan-
Summer vacation has finally arrived. We still have to go to school but the kids won't be there. I'm so excited.
Last year I remember very clearly, we were in the middle of class and one of the boys was running around being generally disruptive (it's always a boy). At one point he climbed up onto a shelf and was leaning out the classroom window (on the fourth floor). I remember being shocked when the teacher didn't react and kept letting him climb. I panicked and ran over to get him off the shelf before he fell out. I was disgusted by the teacher's lack of concern.
This past Friday, the exact thing happened. And there was me standing, doing nothing, thinking, "Come on, lean a little further, see what happens." Yes, I think Japan, if not its children, has changed me.
In other news, we found the kitten a home. A woman from the local church adopted her. We've been to their house and met their other cat so I know it will be a good home. We've gotten a few updates and pictures in the two weeks that she's been there. I'm feeling comfortable that we found her a good permanent home with people that like cats.
Paul's brother Nathan is coming to visit next week. We'll be going to Tokyo and driving the 13 hours down to Hiroshima with him. Paul is taking time off work so they can hang out the rest of the time he is here. I, on the other hand, have to go to summer training. Every summer all of the AETs in Mito meet for a week and talk about stuff. We call it training but really how much training is required for teaching "What animal do you like?" and then playing Bingo for the rest of class?
That's all for now.
