School has started. This semester shouldn't be too bad. There are quite a few national holidays which I'm looking forward to.
Paul tried to start his online classes for his teaching degree...but he'll have to wait until January to start because he needs to complete a practicum in a US school first. We were both a little bummed about the wait but it'll work out eventually.
We've also had a change in plans about moving to back to Omaha after Japan. Not that big of a change. I'm going to try and get into the program at Lincoln (40 mins from Omaha). Lincoln's program is better funded and their focus is more along the lines of what I want to do. I guess I should be excited that Lincoln has one of the better speech pathology programs in the country and I'll get instate tuition...but I'm just not crazy about moving back to Nebraska. Let alone moving back to the very breeding ground of Cornhusker mania.
In other news, "they" tested the carpet in my English Room for allergens. On Friday we got the report. There is 100x the healthy amount of dust mites, signs of a severe flee infestation (flee poo and skin cells but no actual flees), and an infestation of bed bugs. I really wasn't surprised when I read the report. Although that carpet is only about 4 years old it never gets cleaned. 1200 people tromp through that room every week. There is cleaning time everyday for 20 minutes when four to five 3rd graders come and clean the room but honestly how clean will an 8 year old get anything? So Japan what's your solution to this problem? Get the carpets steam cleaned? Rip out the carpets and replace it with linoleum? No. I was told, "Please leave the windows open when it's not raining." Oh yes, I forgot fresh air solves everything.
I'm just hoping I haven't taken this problem home with me. I always take my socks and shoes off before I walk around the house. About a year ago I saw a kid picking his nose and then wiping it on the classroom floor. So I've been very dilegent not to track boogers into my house. Little did I know boogers weren't the only thing to worry about...203 days left.
