The plan was to go down to Tokyo today and see the emperor and the Palace. They open the Palace to the public only twice a year. But we're both feeling tired so I don't know if that's going to happen.
I've been trying to get my last minute Chrismas shopping done. Here's a story for you...
So in America there has been some complaining the last, oh I don't know, decade about how early they start putting out Christmas stuff. Obviously, Japan doesn't celebrate Christmas the way we do but they do have a few decorations here and there. The dollar store was even selling wrapping paper this year. They started putting Christmas stuff out about 3 weeks ago and I bought some wrapping paper then. I was a little annoyed when I got home and the roll I bought was only about a yard long but what do you expect for a dollar? Last night I was wrapping some things and when I inevitably ran out of paper I sent Paul out to the store. Poof! All the Christmas stuff was gone. Not that they were sold out, they took it all down. When Paul asked a worker if maybe they had moved it and she told him, "The Christmas season is over".
He did eventually find wrapping paper but it was brown...the only paper they had was brown! So now my presents look like the army sent them. So for all of you that think WalMart puts Christmas up too early, calm down. Do you have brown wrapping paper?
Side note, it's been so cold in the bathroom that the water in the toilet froze. The water on the inside of the window has been freezing for the past week.
